What TradeNearby does, and what it doesn't.

A directory, not an agency

TradeNearby (tradenearby.co.uk and the [trade]nearby.co.uk sites) is a directory that helps you find local businesses and contact them directly. It is run by Martin Colman, trading as MJC.

We don't employ, supply or manage any business listed. We don't arrange, book or price work, we don't take a commission, and we're not part of any agreement between you and a business.

No vetting or endorsement

We don't vet, interview, inspect or check the businesses listed, including their identity, qualifications, registrations, insurance, licences or the quality of their work. A listing is not a recommendation or endorsement.

Business details, including any qualifications, memberships or badges shown, are provided by the business itself. Unless we clearly say otherwise, they are self-declared and have not been checked by us.

Do your own checks

Before you hire anyone, we recommend you:

Some work is regulated by law. For example, gas work must be done by a Gas Safe registered engineer, paid driving lessons must be given by an approved driving instructor, and sunbed businesses must not serve under-18s.

Paid listings and reviews

Businesses can pay for a Premium or Featured listing. Featured listings appear at the top of local results and are always labelled "Featured" and "Paid listing". Advertisements are always labelled "Advertisement". Paying for a listing or an advert doesn't mean we've checked or recommend the business. Reviews reflect the views of the people who wrote them, not ours.

Accuracy

We try to keep the directory accurate and up to date, but we can't guarantee that every listing is correct, complete or current. If you spot something wrong, email [email protected].

Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we're not responsible for the work, products, prices, conduct or any loss caused by a business you find through TradeNearby. Any complaint about work should be made to the business. Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer.
